Learn to cook Jeera rice in two different ways- using raw rice and leftover/cooked rice. Jeera rice is one of the simplest flavored rice recipes.
Basmati rice is flavored with ghee, cumin seeds, and other green chilis to create a tasty rice dish that compliments Indian curries. It can be found on most Indian restaurant menus.
Some variations to this recipe are- add onion, ginger, whole black peppercorn, cloves, a cinnamon stick, bay leaf, or cardamom.
STEP BY STEP JEERA RICE RECIPE INSTRUCTIONS WITH PHOTOS:
Method 1: With Raw rice
- Heat oil/ ghee in a pan. Add green chilis, cumin seeds and fry for 2 minutes.
2. Wash and soak rice for half an hour. Drain and add to the pan.
3. Fry for 3-4 minutes till its slightly roasted.
4. Add salt, water, mix well and cook till it is done.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
Method 2: With Cooked/ Leftover rice
- Cook rice by adding some salt till it is almost done.
- Heat oil/ ghee in a pan. Add green chilis, cumin seeds and fry for 2 minutes.
- Add cooked rice to the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes till the rice absorbs all the flavors.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot as it is or with some curries or raita.
